As illustrated in Figure 1, this increase continues a modest upward trend that began in the 2023\u201324 school year, following a decade of sustained enrollment decline.<\/p>\n<p>While total enrollment remains well below its 2010 peak, the recent pattern marks a stabilization from the continuous losses experienced between 2010 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-507\" src=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-750x304.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-750x304.png 750w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-300x122.png 300w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-150x61.png 150w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-768x312.png 768w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-1536x623.png 1536w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-1-2048x831.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>2.\u00a0 Enrollment Trends in Jewish Schools.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Enrollment in Jewish schools increased by <strong>255 students<\/strong> in 2025\u201326, representing a <strong>6.2% year over year gain<\/strong>. This marks a substantial <strong>acceleration from the prior three year<\/strong>s when the average annual growth rate was just 1.3%.<\/p>\n<h1><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-508\" style=\"font-size: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-750x303.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"762\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-750x303.png 750w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-300x121.png 300w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-150x61.png 150w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-768x310.png 768w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-1536x621.png 1536w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-2-2048x828.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><\/h1>\n<h4><strong>3. <span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u00a0<\/span>2025-26 Jewish Enrollment Change by Region.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Growth in Jewish schools during 2025\u201326 was concentrated in a small number of counties. The largest increases occurred in the <strong>Scranton Area (+181 students, +30%) and (+96, +29.1%)<\/strong>, and <strong>Lackawanna (+85, +31.7%)<\/strong>. Additional gains were recorded in <strong>Philadelphia (+51, +8.4%) and Dauphin County (+23, +65.7%).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In contrast, enrollment declined in several counties, most notably <strong>Delaware County (\u2013181 students, \u201332.7%).<\/strong> Smaller declines were observed in <strong>Allegheny (\u201342, \u20134.9%) and Bucks County (\u201324, \u201311.4%).<\/strong> Overall, regional patterns indicate that recent growth was geographically concentrated and partially offset by continued declines in a limited number of areas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-509\" src=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-750x345.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"345\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-750x345.png 750w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-300x138.png 300w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-150x69.png 150w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-768x354.png 768w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-1536x707.png 1536w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-3-2048x943.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>4.\u00a0 2025-26 Jewish Enrollment Change by Affiliation.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Yeshivish Schools<\/strong> \u2013 defined as Orthodox schools where students are gender-segregated \u2013 saw the largest enrollment growth with an additional enrollment of <strong>303 students (+12.0%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modern Orthodox Schools<\/strong> \u2013 defined as Orthodox schools that are coed \u2013 saw a substantial decrease of <strong>-44 students (-12.0%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Orthodox Schools<\/strong> had static enrollment, with a negligible decrease of <strong>-4 students (-0.3%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-510\" src=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4-750x485.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4-750x485.png 750w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4-300x194.png 300w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4-150x97.png 150w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4-768x496.png 768w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4-1536x993.png 1536w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-4.png 1728w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>5.\u00a0 Long-Term Jewish Enrollment Trends by Region<em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Growth in Jewish schools since 2022-23 was concentrated in three regions. The largest increases since 2022-23 occurred in the <strong>Scranton Area (+356 students, +84.2%), Philadelphia Area (+75, +2.9%)<\/strong>, and the <strong>Harrisburg Area (+23, +65.7%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, enrollment declined since 2022-23 in several regions, including in the <strong>Pittsburgh Area (\u201315, \u20131.8%), <\/strong>the<strong> Allentown Area (\u201314, \u201323.3%), <\/strong>and <strong>Other Areas (-55 students, \u2013100.0%)<\/strong> within Pennsylvania<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Overall, regional patterns indicate that recent growth was geographically concentrated and partially offset by continued declines in several other areas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-511\" src=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-750x423.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-750x423.png 750w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-150x85.png 150w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-1536x866.png 1536w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-5-2048x1155.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>6.\u00a0 Enrollment Trends by Jewish Affiliation.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Changes in Jewish school enrollment since 2022\u201323 varied sharply by affiliation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yeshivish (Orthodox, single\u2011gender) schools<\/strong> accounted for the entirety of net growth, with enrollment increasing by <strong>400 students<\/strong> (+16.4%) since 2022\u201323 and reaching <strong>2,835 students<\/strong>. This represents the largest gain among all affiliation groups and continues a long\u2011term pattern of sustained expansion in this sector.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, <strong>Non\u2011Orthodox schools<\/strong> experienced a modest decline, with enrollment decreasing by <strong>41 students<\/strong> (\u20133.3%) to <strong>1,207<\/strong>. <strong>Modern Orthodox (coeducational) schools<\/strong> recorded modest growth, increasing by <strong>11 students<\/strong> (+3.5%) to <strong>323<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the 2025\u201326 enrollment increase in Jewish schools was driven entirely by continued growth within the Yeshivish sector, while enrollment in other affiliation groups remained flat or declined slightly, reinforcing an uneven pattern of growth across the Jewish education landscape.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-512\" src=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-750x334.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-750x334.png 750w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-300x133.png 300w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-150x67.png 150w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-768x342.png 768w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-1536x683.png 1536w, https:\/\/teachcoalition.org\/content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Figure-6-2048x911.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.\u00a0 Overall Nonpublic Enrollment.
