Mandated Services Aid – Filing Window Closing!

CAP-MSRThe Mandated Services Aid (MSA) claim window is in its final month as claims are due on April 1st. Currently, there is no option to file a late claim. This means that if you miss the April 1st deadline you will not be able to make a claim for the 2020-2021 school year.

Claim payouts will be made by May 31, 2022. There are some important changes regarding holds on your claim: If there are holds or supporting documentation needed for your claim, you will still receive payment for your claim. However, you are still required to provide the requested information if there is a hold on your claim. Failure to submit the requested information and documentation will result in your school being unable to file the next year’s claim. It is therefore crucial to respond to any holds or information requests on your claim even if you have received payment for the claim.

MSA is the largest program for nonpublic schools in New York State and is a critical part of most schools’ operating budget. There are a myriad of details to a MSA claim, and we’re proud to have a fully-staffed MSA division, led by Mrs. Leah Grossman, with expertise in the entire claims process. If you have any questions about your claim or need assistance with it, please reach out to one of our staffers (listed at the bottom of the newsletter email).
