Earlier this week, parents, students, school leaders, and community advocates from across New York gathered in Albany for our Leadership Mission, meeting directly with lawmakers at a critical moment in the state budget process.
Our delegation held dozens of meetings with legislators and senior staff, including Governor Kathy Hochul, to ensure the needs of nonpublic schools remain front and center as the FY27 state budget is finalized. In these meetings, we emphasized the need for increased security funding for our schools.
In conversations with lawmakers, our community emphasized several critical priorities, including:
- $90 million for nonpublic school security
- $100 million for STEM teacher reimbursement
- Increased funding for arts and music education
- Full reimbursement for mandated services
- Continued support for universal school lunch
Funding and advocating for these programs will help keep students safe, strengthen academic opportunities, and ease the financial burden on families.
Advocates made their voices heard in Albany, now we need you to make yours heard from home. Advocates made their voices heard in Albany, now we need you to make yours heard from home.
Please take 30 seconds to send a message to your legislators urging them to include strong support for nonpublic schools in the final state budget.
