New Updates For Mandated Reporting Coursework

In the ever-evolving world of NYSED requirements, there are new updates to the Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect coursework. The revised training now includes guidance on identifying abuse or maltreatment in children with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Key Requirements:

Teach NYS has a great partnership with the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) to assist our schools in fulfilling their training requirements. NYSPCC said that anyone who has taken the Mandated Reporter training with them since 7/1/25 would have received the updated training; anyone who received the training before July would not be in compliance with the new requirement. NYSPCC is NYSED accredited, and we believe what applies to their trainings would also apply to other NYSED accredited provider trainings for Mandated Reporting. Nevertheless, you should confirm this with your provider.

NYSPCC gives a discounted rate to Teach NYS member schools and they are a useful resource for the all the required NYSED trainings as well as recordkeeping and retention. In-person options are the cheapest and have advantages and disadvantages, depending on your circumstances. Below are the options and associated costs.
