MST Applications Year 7 Application Reviews

Now that your schools’ Year 7 2023-24 MST/STEM applications are on the portal, ORISS has officially begun moving forward with reviews. While there is no anticipated timeline for completion or award, they have already completed reviews for many schools. Once the review stage is finalized, the applications will move through their internal processes to calculate award amounts, notify schools, and ultimately issue payments.

During this review phase, ORISS is actively reaching out to schools for required clarifications or missing documentation. They need the information to approve your teacher, and if they don’t receive a response before the deadline stated in the email, the teacher(s) in question will be rejected.

Generally, if your application requires attention, your school will receive two separate emails:

  1. A personalized email to your MST school contact titled “RFCD: [Your School’s Name] (Institution ID) MST Y7 ACTION REQUIRED” from either MST-ORISS@nysed.gov or a specific ORISS reviewer.
  2. An automated notification sent to your CEO titled “NYS Nonpublic Schools Reimbursement for Math, Science and Technology Teachers Year for 2024 Unsubmitted” from MST-ORISS@nysed.gov.

For member schools, if you receive either email from ORISS, please forward it to our STEM Director Adam Katz. The Teach NYS team will work with you to resolve the issues, upload any required documentation or information to the portal, and resubmit your application.

Teach NYS is working closely with ORISS to improve the efficiency of all processes. The more promptly you respond to them and provide the necessary documentation, the faster they can complete the review process and move towards the award stage. If you have any questions about the process, please reach out to us.
