Teach NYS led a successful leadership mission to Albany earlier last month. The mission kicked off with a legislative dinner on Monday evening. And then Tuesday was a hectic day filled with a press conference and a slew of important legislative meetings. At the press conference on Tuesday morning the group urged the legislature to include $90 million in NPSE funding for the upcoming year. Deputy Michael Gianaris and many other assembly members spoke at the press conference which included representatives of schools of all different faiths.
We then had the opportunity to meet with many senators and assemblymembers including:
- Senator Shelley Mayer, Education Chair
- Assemblymember Michael Benedetto, Education Chair
- Assemblymember Helene Weinstein, Ways and Means Chair
- Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins
- And many many more
The mission wrapped up with a crucial round table discussion with Governor Kathy Hochul.
