We are excited to share that recipients of the 23-24 Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes (SCAHC) grant submitted in May were notified of their awards last week. The Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) received nearly 650 projects and distributed over $63million in funding. Project Protect, Teach Coalition’s in-house security center, is proud to have assisted 30 organizations receive $6 million for critical security measures. This is the first year since the program started where the application process was truly competitive. Only around 50% of applicants received funding.
SCAHC grant implementation guidance was sent out yesterday via email by DCJS. Teach NYS has successfully worked with organizations on more than 75 grants in the last three years to ensure they spend their grant money and adhere to all program regulations. In other security news, you may be aware that the deadline for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS) in New York was yesterday, December 11th. Many organizations reached out in the last few weeks, well past the time we could assist them. The good news is that there is a new round of the NYS SCAHC grant expected shortly as well as the regular Spring release of the federal NSGP grant.
