Statement on Cardinal Dolan’s Leadership and Transition

On behalf of Teach Coalition, I congratulate Cardinal Timothy Dolan on a successful and impactful term of leadership and thank him for his steadfast partnership. His advocacy for nonpublic schools and religious institutions has been reinforced by a sustained commitment to interfaith cooperation, helping ensure that students, families, and faith communities can learn, worship, and gather safely.

Throughout his leadership, Cardinal Dolan has recognized that protecting schools and houses of worship is a shared responsibility. He has been a strong advocate for policies that support faith-based education and strengthen security for religious institutions, while also fostering mutual respect among faith-based communities at a time when antisemitism is rising.

Teach Coalition values the collaboration we have shared on practical policy solutions affecting students, families, educators, and houses of worship, rooted in trust and a shared belief in standing together across faith communities.

We welcome Archbishop-designate Ronald A. Hicks and look forward to continuing our work with the incoming leadership. His pastoral and administrative experience positions him well to engage on policies that support our faith-based school community and protect religious institutions, and to continue the strong tradition of collaboration and interfaith partnership that has defined this work.

We are grateful for the partnership we have shared with the New York Catholic Conference and look forward to continuing this work with incoming leadership. Together, we remain focused on advancing efforts that support our faith communities and safeguard the institutions that serve them.
