Teach NYS and Yachad Launch Online Education Resource of Government-Funded Programs and Services for NY Private School Parents

OU Advocacy-Teach NYS, the nonpartisan public policy arm of the Orthodox Union, together with Yachad, the flagship program of the OU’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities, has launched an online education resource for parents in New York State. The Parent Education Resource Center, www.ouadvocacy.org/teachnys, is the only web site that covers the full array of government-funded educational programs and services available to students attending private and parochial schools.

“Private school parents deserve to have a simple and clear resource with essential information about publicly-funded education resources for their child,” said Sam Sutton, Co-Chair of OU Advocacy-Teach NYS. “While much of this information is already ‘out there’ on the Internet, it is extremely difficult to find. The Parent Education Resource Center cuts search time down to a few seconds and helps ease the frustration of parents who could not previously find answers to their concerns.”

“The Parent Education Resource Center is an incredibly important resource for parents, particularly parents of children with special needs. Will all this information available literally at their fingertips, the Resource Center will help parents become confident and well-informed advocates for their children,” said Dr. Jeffrey Lichtman, International Director of Yachad.
