Up to $70 Million in Security Funding Now Available: Apply for the 2026 Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes Grant

At a time when security remains a top priority for our schools and Yeshivas, New York State has officially opened the 2026 Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes (SCAHC) grant.

This funding includes $35 million from the enacted FY 2026 budget, with additional funds expected pending approval of the FY 2027 budget.

For many organizations, this grant represents one of the most accessible and impactful opportunities to invest in real, tangible security improvements.

What You Need to Know

Eligible organizations can apply for up to $250,000 to support both physical security upgrades, security trainings, and cybersecurity enhancements.

The application deadline is Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., and submissions must be completed through the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services Grants Management System (GMS) portal.

A Strong Opportunity for Both New and Returning Applicants

Organizations that have received SCAHC funding in the past are encouraged to apply again, as long as the proposed projects expand on or differs from previously funded work.

For those who have never received SCAHC funding previously, there is an added advantage: a 5-point bonus will be added to your application score.

In addition, the SCAHC program typically sees a higher approval rate than the federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), making it a particularly worthwhile opportunity to pursue.
