How Federal Scholarships Work
- Your state opts in. States must participate for families to access scholarships.
- Donors fund scholarships. Taxpayers can donate to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations and receive a federal tax credit of up to $1,700.
- Eligible families apply. K–12 students in participating states whose families meet the income requirements can apply for scholarships.
- Families use scholarships for education. Scholarships may help cover tuition, tutoring, special-needs services, transportation, books, technology, after-school programs and other eligible educational expenses.
