    Q&A

Teach Coalition is a nonpartisan tax-exempt organization that does not support or oppose any candidate, political party, political action committee, or social welfare organization.

In additional to the Governor’s race, the 2022 elections include every senate and house seat in the state. It’s rare to have every seat up for grabs and is only due to the fact that the state is going through redistricting from the 2020 census.

Many races will be decided in the August 2022 primary. Historically, only 20% of voters cast a ballot in the primary, meaning you can either make your voice heard or let 20% of people choose for you.

Florida’s closed-primary system means that you can only cast a ballot for your party’s primary races. If you want to affect a particular race, you can switch your party up until 30 days prior to an election. However, most primaries also have non-partisan races in which every voter can vote regardless of party affiliation.

Florida offers vote-by-mail 30 days prior to an election, early voting 14 days prior, and election day voting.

Every time you vote, your “voter score” increases. Candidates and legislators evaluate voters by their score and will often put in more effort into their relationships with strong voters. The act of voting itself sends a clear message to our elected officials that we are “in the game” and should be taken seriously.

Our vote is our voice. As a community with nonpublic schools and unique needs it is vital that we show our elected officials that we register and vote, and it is worth their effort to address our needs and earn our vote.
